Former Greenberg Traurig Maher (GTM) partner Andrew Croxford is taking the firm to an employment tribunal for breach of contract.

Croxford, a banking partner who joined GTM from White & Case in 2009, filed the claim with the London Central Employment Tribunal on 16 February 2011, with
the hearing due to be held
in September.

It is understood he is claiming a six-figure sum in compensation from his former firm for claims including breach of conduct. GTM has turned to Herbert Smith employment partner Andrew Taggart for advice.

Croxford, meanwhile, has instructed employment boutique CM Murray, where senior associate and partnership specialist Susanne Foster will lead.

Legal Week research into lateral hiring at US law firms in London found GTM was the most active partner recruiter in both 2010 and 2009. The firm brought in 12 partners in 2010 – on par with Reed Smith – having already brought in 15 partners in 2009, when it launched in London.

A spokesperson for GTM said: "The matter is the subject of litigation and it is inappropriate for any party to comment."
