Jones Day has added three partners to its City arm with the hire of a US securities team from Ashurst.

The trio comprises US-qualified partners Daniel Bushner, Eric Stuart and Marie Elena Angulo. Bushner and Angulo started at the US law firm at the beginning of last week (23 May), with Stuart set to remain at Ashurst until the end of June to conclude several client matters.

The partners are joining the US firm's London capital markets group headed by corporate partner Giles Elliott, which had six partners before the new additions.

US securities head Bushner was previously London managing partner of legacy New York firm Rogers & Wells until its merger with Clifford Chance (CC). He joined Ashurst

in 2004 from CC, with Stuart joining alongside him. Angulo recently returned to Ashurst after a secondment to Citibank as a partner.

The news follows the departures of Jones Day's London managing partner Russell Carmedy and its European head of private equity Michael Nouril for rival US firm Proskauer Rose. The pair handed in their notice in April.
