Herbert Smith alliance firm Stibbe has strengthened its new Luxembourg base with the hire of Linklaters' local tax head.

Paul Tulcinsky, who has been at Linklaters for almost 10 years, is set to join Stibbe on 15 June. He specialises in international tax law, particularly the setting up of acquisition vehicles and financing vehicles in Luxembourg.

News of the hire comes after Stibbe recruited Loyens & Loeff tax partner Ayzo van Eysinga in April to head up the firm's local practice.

Eysinga commented: "We are thrilled to see a leading practitioner like Paul join our tax practice. His extensive experience as well as his international focus will be a major benefit to our clients."

Prior to joining Linklaters, Tulcinsky headed the tax and legal department at Coopers & Lybrand in Luxembourg.

Stibbe opened in Luxembourg in September last year. The office, which is headed by Loyens' former Luxembourg head Dirk Leermakers, focuses on corporate, investment funds, tax, real estate, banking and finance work.

Stibbe, Gleiss Lutz and Herbert Smith recently appointed a secretary general to manage the three-way relationship in a bid to improve integration between the three firms. Stibbe Brussels managing partner Olivier Clevenbergh is set to take up the new role on 1 July for a three-year term.
