CMS Cameron McKenna is set to move into new offices in the City after signing a deal to move into the new Principal Place skyscraper in 2015.

CMS has agreed a deal with property development company Hammerson to take on around one-third of the space in the new building.

The building, for which a planning application was submitted earlier this year, is part of a mixed use scheme that will include shops, restaurants and residential apartments.

Hammerson is expecting to complete the building by 2015, although it is still subject to planning permission. This is the first pre-let agreed to date.

CMS's current London lease at Mitre House, where the firm has 186,000 sq ft of space, is due to end in 2015, with the firm expecting to move into the new building during the early part of that year.

Senior partner Dick Tyler (pictured) commented: "Having undertaken a detailed property review looking at the options available, I am delighted we have selected Principal Place. It will be a contemporary building designed by Fosters & Partners in an up-and-coming district of the City that will provide a dynamic working environment for our people and also offers flexibility for our future needs."

CMS expects to finalise its lease agreement with Hammerson later in the year. The firm currently has around 850 employees in London. When CMS kicked off its search for a new building in London in November 2008, it was looking for around 300,000 sq ft of space.
