Eversheds is set to launch an office in Hamburg in response to growing client demand in the region.

The office will go live in October this year, with Munich corporate partners Carola Rathke and Sebastian Zeeck due to relocate to Hamburg to co-head the new branch alongside a team of
four associates.

The move will give Eversheds its second presence in Germany. The firm has a total of 24 partners across
the country.

Eversheds Germany head Matthias Heisse said: "The rationale behind the decision was our increasing levels of work in Northern Germany and Northern Europe that led to demand from clients for us to be closer to them.

"The office will initially mainly be focused on corporate work, with a view to growing it organically as market demand grows. This is something that we have been looking at for the last year and feel is a necessary step in continuing to develop our presence in Germany."

The firm cited clients likely to use the office including electronics company Tyco and automotive safety manufacturer Autoliv.

The news comes after Eversheds this month secured a new alliance partner in Spain with a tie-up with local firm Nicea Abogadosa, after the firm called time on its Eversheds Lupicinio alliance.

Eversheds also expanded its presence in the Middle East last month through a merger with law consortium KSLG, handing the firm new outposts in Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Dubai.
