Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Skadden Arps Slate
Meagher & Flom have advised on Huaneng Renewables' $800m (£500m) Hong Kong initial public offering (IPO).

Skadden took the lead role for the Chinese renewable energy company, fielding a team led by Hong Kong corporate partner Dominic Tsun alongside Shanghai corporate and M&A
partner Gregory Miao.

Freshfields acted for the underwriters, which comprised Morgan Stanley, China International Capital Corporation, Goldman Sachs and the
Macquarie Group, with a team headed up by Hong Kong corporate
partner Calvin Lai.

DeHeng Law Offices provided Chinese law advice to Huaneng, while Jingtian & Gongcheng advised the underwriters.

The news comes after Freshfields' recent role on the $1.5bn (£921m) listing of luggage maker Samsonite International on the local stock exchange
this month.

Freshfields advised Samsonite on US and Hong Kong law
with a team led by London corporate partner Stuart Grider, supported by senior associate
Amy Beckingham, alongside
Hong Kong corporate partner
Chris Wong.

The IPO marked the latest foreign consumer brand to go public in Hong Kong following French skincare brand L'Occitane International's $780m (£479m) offering last year.

Italian fashion group Prada
also announced in February it is investigating a float on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange this year, which could see the label valued at as much as $8.2bn (£5bn).

Clifford Chance and Italian leader Bonelli Erede Pappalardo are advising on the listing.
