Mayer Brown has added a partner to its London intellectual property (IP) team with the hire of Jonathan Radcliffe from Nabarro.

Radcliffe, who will join the US firm on 1 August, has expertise in patent and IP litigation, having acted on disputes in the pharmaceutical, life sciences and high-tech sectors. He joined Nabarro in 2005 from rival UK top 30 law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse.

The hire marks a further investment for Mayer Brown in the firm's life sciences sector in London, following the recent promotion of Sangeeta Puran to partner in the IP group earlier this year.

London senior partner Sean Connolly said: "Jonathan's appointment supports our commitment to continuing to invest in this important area both in London and globally – he is the eighth IP partner we have appointed globally in the last seven months."

Radcliffe added: "Patent litigation is increasingly becoming global in nature, with the same key issues being fought out from country to country, and clients increasingly expect their lawyers to represent them internationally in such disputes."

The hire comes after Mayer Brown strengthened its London financial services regulation & enforcement group this May with the hire of senior regulatory lawyer Mark Compton from BP's in-house legal team.
