DLA Piper, Charles Russell and Mishcon de Reya are among a roster of 17 law firms and chambers to win places on the pro bono panel for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The trio will offer pro bono sport, defamation and privacy advice, with Mishcons also providing immigration advice through the panel, which has been set up at the request of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Other firms on the general panel include Farrer & Co and Brabners Chaffe Street, while Blackstone Chambers and 4 New Square are among nine chambers to secure spots on the roster.
Nineteen individual advocates have also been appointed to the pro bono legal advice and representation service, including Bird & Bird sports partner Max Duthie, who is one of four solicitors to be selected.
The panel, which was finalised at the close of last month, has been selected by The Bar Council, the Law Society, the British Association of Sport and Law and independent dispute resolution service Sport Resolutions.
It will advise on six areas of law: sport, criminal, defamation and privacy, immigration and asylum, discrimination and personal injury, with each firm or set assigned to specific areas of law that they will be advising in.
Mishcons' sports practice head Adam Morallee said: "We are delighted to have been appointed to the London 2012 pro bono legal advice panel.
"To be one of only a handful of firms chosen from 150 applicants is testament to our growing presence in this area, and we look forward to providing support to athletes, officials and committees."
The selected lawyers and barristers will be providing free legal advice to athletes, coaches, team officials, national Olympic committees, national Paralympic committees and international federations between 9 July and 12 September 2012.
