Gateley has bolstered its banking and media teams in London with a pair of  partner hires.

Colin Mattis has joined the firm from Shoosmiths and will head up the firm's London banking and finance practice, while TV and entertainment lawyer Lisa Logan has also joined the firm as a partner from London boutique Candey.

Mattis, who formerly led Shoosmiths' southern banking and finance team, specialises in corporate banking, acquisition finance, structured finance and property and development finance.

Mattis (pictured) said: "The opportunity to lead and help expand a London-based banking and finance team is hugely appealing to me and I'm looking forward to rising to the challenge."

Meanwhile, before joining the partnership at Candey, Logan worked in-house at Disney, Nickelodeon and the Discovery Channel, where she was responsible for TV production legal matters.

Logan added: "I'm looking forward to using my extensive knowledge and track record within the TV industry to build my client portfolio and help expand the firm's expertise in media law."

The hires follow a strong 2010-11 financial year for Gateley, which last month announced a 23% hike in turnover for the 12-month period. Fee income grew from £51.2m to £63m, although profits per equity partner fell from £319,000 to £240,000.

The firm took on 38 Halliwells partners last year, with partner headcount swelling from 98 at the end of 2009-10 to 142, a number which also included five lateral hires and two promotions made during the year.
