Norton Rose has made a duo of lateral hires in Australia with the addition of a corporate and a banking partner.

Gilbert & Tobin partner Martyn Taylor is joining Norton Rose Australia's corporate group in Sydney, while Corrs Chambers Westgarth banking partner Scott Miller is joining the firm in Melbourne.

Taylor specialises in competition matters and telecoms and energy regulatory issues, while Miller's practice focuses on corporate and commercial lending – in particular structured property and corporate finance. He also advises on securitisation and other commercial financing transactions.

The double hire brings the total number of lateral appointments to 20 since the merger of Norton Rose and Australian firm Deacons in January 2010.

Australia managing partner and group deputy CEO Don Boyd (pictured) commented: "Our lateral appointments programme has been a tremendous success as our global strategy resonates with both major clients and the country's top legal talent.

"Martin and Scott are both exceptional appointments and will add significant experience and expertise to our corporate and banking practices across the region."

Norton Rose's most recent hires included a three-lawyer corporate partner team from Clayton Utz as well as ex-Freehills banking partner Tessa Hoser, who joined from the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation, where she was general counsel.
