Reynolds Porter Chamberlain (RPC) is set to launch in Bristol with the hire of four partners from CMS Cameron McKenna, with the firm also in discussions to take on the whole of Camerons' local insurance and reinsurance group.
Insurance and reinsurance partners Jeremy Barnes, Joe Bryant, Simon Chandler and Peter Mansfield are all set to join RPC in the coming months.
RPC has also made offers to the remainder of the staff in Camerons' Bristol insurance practice, which includes three partners - Rebecca Smith, Will Sefton and Rob Morris.
The new base for RPC will be the firm's first outside of its London headquarters. Managing partner Jonathan Watmough said: "We both serve many of the same clients and this is a very natural fit for both sides. It means that we can offer clients a top-quality, out-of-town service and the Bristol office can leverage our deep commitment to the insurance sector and be free of banking conflicts.
"Our priority now is to work closely with CMS to effect a smooth transition in the interests of all the clients and the staff involved."
Camerons opened in Bristol around 20 years ago when it followed key banking client Lloyds to the city.
The office has a further four partners in real estate and banking, with City insurance and reinsurance partner Belinda Schofield now set to relocate to the office.
Camerons head of dispute resolution and insurance and reinsurance Liam O'Connell said: "While we regret the departures of these partners, we maintain our total commitment to Bristol as an integral part of the insurance and reinsurance group."
The news follows RPC's hire of Barlow Lyde & Gilbert insurance partner Victoria Sherratt, who is set to join RPC's City insurance and reinsurance group.
