Everything Everywhere is set to kick off a redundancy consultation in its in-house legal team following a restructuring that has seen 22 senior management roles cut at the newly-merged company.

The mobile phone operator, which was formed by last year's merger of Orange and T-Mobile, has cut one senior legal role as a result of the consolidation of the two businesses, with a number of further junior legal roles subsequently placed under review.

Former Orange lawyer Tom Speed, who was appointed director of business legal affairs for the newly-merged company earlier this year, is set to leave towards the end of the year.

Everything Everywhere general counsel James Blendis is now conducting a review of the merged legal department and is considering making redundancies where roles are duplicated.

The news comes eight months after Blendis reorganised the company's legal function, making six senior appointments from both sides of the tie-up to head up each of the company's legal divisions.

Legacy T-Mobile counsel Lisa Ball became director of consumer legal affairs, while her colleague Matthew Redding became director of joint ventures and partnerships' legal affairs. Guy Perring, also from the legacy T-Mobile
team, became director of dispute resolution.

Colin Caldwell, from the legacy Orange team, was named director of
legal governance and compliance and Sonia Bellamy was named director of operational legal affairs.

News of the redundancies comes as Everything Everywhere nears the end of a review of its external legal advisers.
