Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has announced its second round of counsel promotions this year, with 13 new lawyers made up to the rank.

The magic circle firm's London and Frankfurt offices have received the most promotions with two apiece. The round as a whole is more than twice the size of the May promotions this year when six lawyers were made up to of counsel.

Dispute resolution saw the highest number of promotions with four, followed by two in corporate, tax and antitrust, competition and trade respectively, while finance, real estate and employment each received one.

The promotions are effective from 1 November.

The autumn round is slightly up on last year's equivalent round when 11 lawyers were promoted, including three in London.

Global managing partner Ted Burke said: "Congratulations to our new counsel. They are all great colleagues and great lawyers and we are happy to see this recognised."

Freshfields was the first magic circle firm to announce its 2011 partner promotions in March this year, when 20 lawyers made up across the firm, nine of which were in London.
