SNR Denton has made its second London energy partner hire in recent weeks, with the addition of Humphrey Douglas from legacy Barlow Lyde & Gilbert.
Douglas, who was Barlows' only non-contentious energy partner, joined SNR Denton today (1 November) – the same day that Barlows formally merged into Clyde & Co.
Douglas joined Barlows from CMS Cameron McKenna in 2009 as an associate and was made up to partner in May this year. He previously worked at Clifford Chance, as well as the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company, where he served as European general counsel from 2006 to 2008.
His practice focuses on upstream and midstream oil and gas as well as renewable energy generation and he has experience of corporate and energy transactions including M&A and joint ventures.
He also has experience advising companies on how to become more environmentally friendly, and will be tasked with working with other SNR Denton partners to help corporate clients with their energy efficiency and sustainability strategies.
The hire comes after SNR Denton hired Linklaters City counsel Mark Cheney as a partner in its London energy practice in August, with the transatlantic firm also bulking up the practice globally.
SNR Denton UK managing partner Brandon Ransley commented: "Bringing Humphrey on board continues our focus on clients demanding sector expertise and alignment with their own competitive advantage strategies."
He added: "Our decades-long commitment to energy and firmwide knowledge of the sector means that we offer a fantastic platform to high quality energy partners who want a natural home in which to grow their practices and take them to the next stage."
