White & Case is gearing up for a comprehensive review of many of its regional and practice group heads worldwide.

The review, which comes after firmwide chair Hugh Verrier (pictured) was re-elected earlier this year, is expected to see many of the management positions changing hands, although each will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Thirteen regional management positions across the Americas, EMEA and Asia are up for review as well as the firm's 16-strong global practice council and the New York and London executive partner posts. London head Oliver Brettle is expected to remain in his role.

Verrier was re-elected in June this year, with his new term to begin in April 2012. All of the changes are expected to be in place by this time. The review comes after Verrier stated in his re-election manifesto that he "espoused the virtues of the rotation of leadership".

One partner said: "There is quite a lot of political sensitivity surrounding these appointments. The firm has entered a period of stability; it's growing and partners are getting on with work – it seems ill-advised to make changes now."

An overhaul in December 2008 saw White & Case introduce operations councils made up of partners from different practice groups across all three regions as well as the global practice council.

The firm declined to comment.
