Solicitors from Hell owner Rick Kordowski has been ordered to remove his site from the internet.

A decision in the High Court yesterday (15 November) saw Mr Justice Tugendhat order Kordowski to "cease, forthwith, to publish the website solicitorsfromhell.co.uk".

The ruling follows a Law Society court action to secure an injunction against the 'Solicitors from Hell' website to protect its members and the public, on the grounds that the site was not a credible source of reliable information about solicitors.

The decision comes after a claim of alleged slander by Kordowski, whose site allowed people to name and shame solicitors alleged not to have performed an adequate service, against Law Society chief executive Desmond Hudson (pictured) was thrown out of court last month.

Kordowski had claimed Hudson slandered him in comments he allegedly made to Professor John Flood of the University of Westminster in which, according to a blog published by Flood on 22 July this year, he called Kordowski a "criminal".

Hudson said in a statement: "This website has served simply as a vehicle for pursuing personal grudges and vendettas against conscientious and reputable firms and legal professionals. Far from being of any help to consumers, it has been a danger.

"Some excellent firms have been listed on the website, and exclusion from the site has more often than not been a matter of whether a firm has been prepared to pay a fee to have the listing removed. I feared the website was directing people in real need of help away from professionals best placed to assist them."

The Law Society sent a letter of claim to Kordowski in August this year warning him that if he did not take down his website a class action would be taken out against him.

Kordowski is understood to have been sued for libel at least 17 times and accrued around £170,000 worth of judgements against him.
