Stephenson Harwood is entering the Indonesian market with the launch of a formal association with local firm Christian Teo Purwono & Partners (CTPP).

The agreement, which was signed last Thursday (24 November), gives the UK top 30 firm an associated office in Jakarta, adding to its existing offices in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shanghai 
and Singapore.

The 18-lawyer CTPP is a full-service practice specialising in telecommunications, mining and resources, capital markets and property. The firm's clients include Michelin Asia, Cisco Systems and Dell.

Stephenson Harwood chief executive Sharon White said: "We are delighted to be associated with a firm of CTPP's calibre and hope this marks the start of a strong and longstanding relationship between the two firms.

"CTPP's respected and established local presence in Jakarta allows us to expand our regional network and enhances our ability to provide clients with access to advice of the highest quality in Indonesia."

The move comes as increasing numbers of firms look to target Indonesia, with US firm O'Melveny & Myers agreeing a formal association with Indonesian practice Tumbuan & Partners earlier this month. The association will see the pair focus on high-end corporate, finance and capital markets work.

Stephenson Harwood posted a 4% increase in revenues for the first six months of the 2011-12 financial year, rising from £49.6m at the same point last year to £51.4m for the period ending 31 October.
