White & Case has promoted six London lawyers to its partnership out of a global total of 21; however to are subsequently being relocated. The promotions, which will take effect in the New Year (1 January), include London-based capital markets lawyers Melissa Butler and Sean Johnson, with Johnson set to relocate to Abu Dhabi in 2012.

White & Case has promoted six London lawyers to its partnership out of a global total of 21; however two are subsequently being relocated.
The promotions, which will take effect in the New Year (1 January), include London-based capital markets lawyers Melissa Butler and Sean Johnson, with Johnson set to relocate to Abu Dhabi in 2012.
The City office has also gained one partner apiece in M&A, project finance and arbitration. Project finance lawyer Paul Harrison will, however, be relocating to Tokyo in the New Year.
As part of the promotions, the firm has also made its two deputy general counsel up to partner, with Julia Walker joining the partnership in London and Jennifer Paradise joining in New York. The pair report directly to the firm's New York-based general counsel Philip Schaeffer.
The remaining promotions are spread across the firm's Hamburg, Frankfurt, Moscow, Brussels, Paris, Stockholm, Mexico City, New York and Miami offices.
The promotions follow a period of strategic investment across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) throughout 2011particularly in the firm's capital markets, M&A and disputes practices, in addition to building out its project finance practice across the region.
London managing partner Oliver Brettle commented: "Today's promotions across the EMEA region further strengthen our team of partners who serve the needs of our clients in what is an ever-changing economic environment."
He added: "The significant number of promotions we have made, in addition to the excellent lawyers we have already hired this year, reflects the firm's strong regional and global practice structure. I am particularly pleased to see that two of the London-based promotions are of lawyers who joined the firm via the London office's trainee programme. This programme, and our other promotions, demonstrates out commitment to long-term organic growth. "
In last year's promotions round, White & Case added seven London lawyers to its partnership out of a global total of 35.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays.
