SNR Denton has bulked up its Hong Kong office with the hire of former SJ Berwin Asia managing partner Daniel Liew.

Liew joined the firm – which operates in Hong Kong as SNR Denton in association with Brandt Chan & Partners – this month as a partner in its energy, transport and infrastructure team.

He has been Asia managing partner for SJ Berwin since the firm opened its Hong Kong office in April 2009. SJ Berwin Hong Kong chairman Peter Anderson will continue to head the firm's Hong Kong operations, with a decision yet to emerge over a replacement for Liew.

SNR Denton Hong Kong managing partner Keith Brandt said: "Liew's addition reflects the firm's wider strategic ambitions to grow our presence in Asia Pacific, especially in the energy, transport and infrastructure sector.

"Daniel is well-known in Asia for bringing clients a wealth of his expertise and experience in advising acquirers, corporate sponsors, banks and other financial institutions on energy, natural resources, electricity, water, mining and metals, telecommunications, transport and infrastructure projects."

Liew's practice focuses on M&A, corporate, infrastructure funds, strategic alliances and banking and project finance in China and Hong Kong. He is admitted to practise in England, Hong Kong and Australia.

SNR Denton has three offices in the Asia Pacific in Hong Kong, Beijing and Singapore.
