Jones Day promotes five in the City in global round of 45
Jones Day has become the latest US firm to announce its annual promotions round, with five London-based lawyers making the cut out of a global total of 45. The promotions, which will take effect from 1 January 2012, include 22 lawyers in the US, five in Asia, seven in Germany and two in Italy and France respectively. They also include one partner apiece in Russia and Australia.

Jones Day has become the latest US firm to announce its annual promotions round, with five London-based lawyers making the cut out of a global total of 45.
The promotions, which will take effect from 1 January 2012, include 22 lawyers in the US, five in Asia, seven in Germany and two in Italy and France respectively. They also include one partner apiece in Russia and Australia.
Jones Day's City office will see the addition of five new partners, two of whom are litigators. Harriet Territt focuses on financial litigation and contentious regulation, with a particular focus on disputes arising out of structured products such as CDOs and credit derivatives. Rhys Thomas, meanwhile, is a commercial litigator with broad experience in complex commercial litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.
Sebastian Orton and Patrick Stafford are corporate lawyers, focusing on equity capital markets and private equity respectively. Orton has spent time on secondment to Investec's corporate finance group and Citigroup Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Legal.
Iain Hindhaugh, the fifth addition to the London partnership, is a real estate lawyer focusing on onshore and offshore joint ventures, sales and acquisitions, funding agreements and lettings.
