Hogan Lovells has announced its second partner promotions round as a merged firm, with eight London lawyers making the cut out of a global total of 35.

The promotions, which took effect last week (1 January), take total partner count at the firm to more than 800 across its global network. In addition, the firm has also made 46 of counsel and consultant appointments.

The new partners are shared between Hogan Lovells' five main practice groups, with 10 in litigation, arbitration & employment, seven in corporate and six each in finance, government regulatory and intellectual property (IP).

Eighteen of the partner promotions come in the firm's European offices, with the eight new London partners comprising two litigators and six further promotions in restructuring, antitrust, IP, arbitration, banking and corporate.

Four lawyers have been made up in Paris, with a further six in Germany.

Co-chief executive David Harris commented: "In addition to acknowledging the hard work of each individual, these promotions are testament to the depth and quality of Hogan Lovells and they reflect our commitment to nurturing talent and investing in our people."

The news comes after Hogan Lovells last year announced its first partner promotions as a merged firm, with the firm's London office gaining seven new partners out of a global round of 36. The firm was formed by the May 2010 merger of US firm Hogan & Hartson and UK firm Lovells.
