Former Stephenson Harwood senior partner Anthony Isaacs and Three Raymond Buildings barrister Hugh Davies are among a handful of lawyers to have been recognised in the latest New Year Honours list.

Isaacs has been awarded an MBE for services to the legal profession in his past role as president of the Solicitors' Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT).

Isaacs held the role at the SDT between 2001 and 2009 after leaving Stephenson Harwood, where he stepped down as senior partner in 1996.

Meanwhile, Davies has been awarded an OBE for his services to children and young people in his role as a legal adviser to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre.

He specialises in criminal law and police regulation and has particular expertise in prosecuting offences involving child exploitation, while he is also head of the child rights faction of the Bar Human Rights Committee – the human rights arm of the Bar of England and Wales.

Other lawyers to have received awards in this year's list include Linda Urquhart, the chairman of Scottish law firm Morton Fraser, who has been awarded an OBE for services to business in Scotland.

A number of lawyers have received awards for their service to the industry in recent years, with Hogan Lovells pro bono manager YasminWaljee handed an OBE for services to disadvantaged young Muslims in 2011.

Pinsent Masons projects partner Martin Harman was awarded a CBE for services to international trade and the legal profession in 2010, while DLA Piper joint chief executive and managing partner Nigel Knowles was knighted in 2009.
