Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) is bulking up its banking and capital markets practice with the hire of Clifford Chance (CC) partner Prashanth Satyadeva.

Satyadeva is set to join BLP's structured finance team, which sits within the wider banking group, in the coming weeks.

He has been a partner at CC since 2008 and specialises in advising banks, funds and corporates on securitisations and other asset-backed finance transactions.

The hire marks the second finance partner recruitment for BLP in London in recent months, coming after the addition of Ashurst structured finance partner Simon Small in November last year.

BLP finance head Matthew Kellett said: "The finance team at BLP continues to grow from strength to strength. Our continued investment in recruiting leading individuals is paying dividends, with a growing reputation in the market for technical excellence and commercial awareness and the resources to handle large, complex and high profile deals.

"Structured finance is an area in which we have a growing business and reputation and we anticipate further growth in the future."

Satyadeva will work under Paul Severs, the former CC partner who heads BLP's structured finance team. The group has a client portfolio that includes Tesco, Thames Water, Lloyds Banking Group, RBS and Goldman Sachs.

News of the hire comes after structured finance partner Tamara Box left the firm at the close of last year to join Reed Smith.

Box, who focuses on structured finance and securitisation transactions, derivatives, debt capital markets and debt restructurings, is set to join the US firm's City base shortly.
