Societe Generale has drawn up a roster of law firms to provide advice in France, with Linklaters, White & Case and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom among those making the cut.

CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre; Linklaters; White & Case; De Pardieu Brocas Maffei and Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel have all been selected to provide general legal advice to SocGen in France.

Skadden meanwhile has been selected to provide corporate and M&A advice, alongside a number of other firms chosen for specialist advice. French boutiques Capstan and Flichy Grange Avocats will both provide employment law advice, with Sarrau Thomas Couderc advising on tax matters.

SocGen has also appointed a subpanel of law firms to advise on contentious work and litigation, with French firms Lussan; Reinhart Marville Torre and Veil Jourde all winning places.

None of the firms chosen for the French panel were appointed to the bank's global legal panel which was announced in December. That saw Allen & Overy, Herbert Smith, Clifford Chance, Hogan Lovells, Norton Rose and Simmons & Simmons winning places.

The Paris-headquartered bank also appointed a number of international firms to the panel including Jones Day; Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker; Shearman & Sterling; Baker & McKenzie; French leader Gide Loyrette Nouel and the legal arm of PricewaterhouseCoopers .

Most of the firms appointed to the global panel had advised the bank in the past, with CC recently advising the bank as a part of a consortium of underwriters on Glencore's initial public offering (IPO), which valued the company at around $60bn ($36.7bn).
