Nabarro's international alliance has added a new Spanish firm with the addition of Roca Junyent, the country's fifth-largest independent law firm.

The alliance, which also includes France's August & Debouzy, Germany's GSK Stockmann + Kollegen and Italy's Nunziante Magrone, now comprises 960 lawyers based in 23 offices across nine jurisdictions.

Roca Junyent – which has 66 partners and around 200 fee earners across five offices in Spain and a Shanghai base – specialises in corporate, employment, IT/IP, real estate and financial regulation.

Nabarro head of international Mike Hales commented: "A Spanish firm with such a strong reputation, client base and similar working ethos to our own is a welcome addition. It is good to see our European alliance strengthening, growing and able to share benefits for clients across nine jurisdictions.

He added: "With an office in Shanghai, Roca Junyent also extends the alliance's presence in Asia at a time when all member firms are seeing an increasing demand for cross-border advice in the region."

Roca Junyent chairman Miquel Roca Junyent added: "The alliance firms share our absolute commitment to clients and our positive, international outlook – a common approach which leads me to believe Roca Junyent's participation will yield significant mutual benefits."

The news comes after former Spanish alliance member Rodes & Sala left the alliance in 2009, with seven of its partners subsequently joining Gomez-Acebo & Pombo.
