The College of Law and CMS Cameron McKenna have teamed up to develop a new internationally focused Legal Practice Course (LPC).

The International LPC, which will be designed by the College in collaboration with Camerons, will focus on the legal principles behind cross-border transactions as well as the differences between legal systems around the world.

The College's tie-up with Camerons to develop the course comes alongside a new exclusive agreement to provide the LPC, Graduate Diploma in Law and Professional Skills Course for all of its trainees from September this year.

Camerons previously had an exclusive agreement with BPP Law School but opted for a new deal with the College of Law after a "rigourous retendering process".

As of 2013, the International LPC will be taken by all of Camerons' trainees at the College's Moorgate centre. Stage two electives will be based on the College's LL.M in International Legal Practice, and trainees completing the course will be awarded a Master of Laws as well as the LPC qualification.

This year's Camerons trainees will study the College's existing corporate LPC before the International LPC commences next year, when the course will also be available to other law firms as well as students unaffiliated to any particular law firm.

Camerons graduate recruitment partner Simon Pilcher said: "This will really make a difference to our trainees as it will give them the necessary European context for the work that we do with our European colleagues on behalf of our clients."

The news comes after the College last week agreed a £200m sale of its legal education and training business to buyout house Montagu Private Equity. The investment is set to see the College expand into new jurisdictions around the world, with a Singapore launch planned for later this year.
