Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has made its third senior City hire this week, with Linklaters' real estate finance head Claire Watson set to join the firm as a partner.

Watson, whose start date has not yet been decided, will join BLP after 14 years in the partnership at Linklaters. She has been at the magic circle firm since joining as a trainee in 1990.

Her hire is the latest in a string of appointments at BLP, which announced the recruitment of Allen & Overy corporate heavyweight Alan Paul as a senior consultant on Tuesday (24 April).

Paul, who announced his retirement from the magic circle firm at the close of 2011, will join BLP next month as a senior consultant after 27 years as a partner at A&O.

BLP also hired Janet Turner QC this week as head of charities from Taylor Vinters where she led the firm's not-for-profit group. She will join the firm's private client team next month.

BLP has made nine senior lateral hires since January including Watson. This includes former Linklaters corporate chief David Barnes, who joined as a partner in March this year after retiring from Linklaters' last summer.

Watson said: "This is a significant move for me, the firm is both ambitious and innovative. In recent years I have watched BLP's real estate finance team grow in capability and stature, and I am looking forward to being part of that growth going forward."
