Clifford Chance (CC) has announced its 2012 partner promotions, with 27 lawyers made up including more than a third in key growth economies, including Asia, the Middle East and South America.
The firm has made up five new partners across its Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia practices and is also doubling the size of the partnership in its Sao Paulo office with two promotions. In Asia-Pacific there are three new partners, who join the 27 partners added across that region since 1 May 2011.
The magic circle firm's London office is receiving four new partners, with two in corporate and one apiece in the finance and the litigation and dispute resolution groups respectively.
The promotions will take effect from 1 May and will bring the total number of partners in the firm to 593. The firm made up 23 new partners last year, with over half in Asia, while in 2010 the total number was 22.
Earlier this week (23 April) Linklaters announced that it is making up 23 new partners, including six in London. The round is larger than last year, when the magic circle rival made up 18 new partners.
CC managing partner David Childs commented: "This year's promotions demonstrate how we continue to invest across the firm, ensuring we have the right breadth and depth of capability to meet evolving client needs. As a result, this year we have a strong spread of new partners across critical markets in the West as well as in those regions experiencing high levels of growth."
