Clyde & Co has announced its first partner promotions since its merger with legacy Barlow Lyde & Gilbert went live in November, with the combined firm making up 14 new partners.

Half of the new partners are women, with the promotions split across the firm's UK and international offices, with the Middle East gaining six new partners.

In the UK, London has added two lawyers to its partnership, with the firm also promoting one partner in Oxford. Meanwhile Dubai has been handed four new partners, with Abu Dhabi and Doha also adding one new partner each. Elsewhere, Hong Kong has promoted two lawyers to the partnership while Singapore, San Francisco and New York have gained one partner apiece.

The promotions, which take effect from today, come after legacy Clydes and Barlows each made up nine new partners in 2011.

In addition to the new partner promotions, Clydes has also promoted four existing partners to its senior equity rank, with two of the promotions in New York and two splitting their time between London and Guildford. The firm made up seven partners to the senior equity in 2010-11.

Clydes chief exectuive Peter Hasson (pictured) said: "These promotions reflect the continuing growth of the firm across all of our core sectors and practice areas, and throughout our global network, as well as the opportunities we can provide to our lawyers for their career development within our now very sizeable business.

"The promotions, which fully reflect all regions within the firm, are a testament to our international development programme."

The news comes after the firm saw a seven-partner walkout in Hong Kong last month, as all seven legacy Barlows partners exited the firm's local arm to join a trio of UK rivals.
