Reynolds Porter Chamberlain (RPC) and Charles Russell have both announced their annual partner promotions, with two lawyers made up to each of the firm's partnerships.

Both of RPC's new partners are based in the firm's London headquarters, with Paul Joseph made up in intellectual property (IP), and Andy McGregor added to the top rank in the commercial disputes group.

Both Joseph and McGregor joined RPC in 2010, from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Ashurst respectively.

The promotions take partner numbers at the all-equity firm to 75, after it also promoted two partners in its 2010-11 round.

Meanwhile, Charles Russell has made up Roger Elford to partner in its Guildford litigation practice and James Riby in the London family group.

The round marks a significant decrease on 2010-11 when 10 lawyers were made up. Charles Russell now has a total of 102 partners.

The promotions take effect at both firms today (1 May).

RPC managing partner Jonathan Watmough (pictured) said: "With a genuine all-equity partnership like we have at RPC the bar is, of course, that much higher. Our IP and banking litigation teams have both grown significantly in recent years on the back of sustained investment."

A number of firms have announced their 2012 partner promotions today, as the new financial year gets underway. Clyde & Co's announcement today that it is making up 14 new partners marks the firm's first post-merger promotions round since its tie-up with Barlow Lyde & Gilbert went live last November.
