Simmons & Simmons has made up 10 new partners today (1 May) with this year's promotions round heavily focused on London.

The firm's London office has received eight of the new partners, with the remaining two made in Rome and Doha.

The practice spread has seen three partners promoted in litigation and dispute resolution, with two in the financial markets and intellectual property groups, and one in each of the firm's projects, corporate and real estate teams.

Simmons' promotions round last year saw the firm make up 13 partners, compared with eight in 2010.

Senior partner Colin Passmore (pictured) said: "A number of our new partners have worked in more than one of our 19 offices, and have also been on secondment with clients. This international outlook, together with their client-centred approach and experience in working in the firm's priority sectors, will ensure they make a significant contribution to the firm's ambitious growth strategy."

Elsewhere, Dundas & Wilson has also announced its 2012 promotions round, with a quartet of lawyers made up to partner.

Craig McGinn, who splits his time between London and Glasgow, has been made up in the restructuring and recovery team, while a trio of Edinburgh lawyers have also been promoted – dispute resolution lawyer Graeme Macleod, Grigor Milne in corporate and construction and engineering specialist Mark Kirke.

The new appointments take effect today (1 May), boosting total partner headcount at the firm to 84.

This year's promotions round is in line with the number Dundas made up last year, when four were promoted, including two based in London.
