Taylor Wessing has announced its annual partner promotions for its UK and German arms, with the firm making up six new partners including one in the City.
Mustafa Hussain, a corporate lawyer with a special focus on private wealth and the Middle East, has become the only new partner in the London office in this year's round, with employment and immigration specialist Charlie Pring becoming a senior counsel.
The five remaining partner promotions are all in Germany. Frankfurt has gained two new partners with one apiece in its banking and employment & pensions practices, while Hamburg, Munich and Duesseldorf have each received one new partner in the technology, media and telecoms, intellectual property and corporate practices respectively.
Promotions for the Anglo-German firm's Paris arm are still to be announced. Last year Taylor Wessing made up six new partners in total.
The news comes as Taylor Wessing has also made several management changes in the UK, including appointing City partner Niri Shanmuganathan to its board.
Shanmuganathan, who currently heads the firm's trade marks copyright & media practice (TMC&M), replaces Charles Lloyd both on the board and as leader of one of Taylor Wessing's three overarching business groups – with business group C covering commercial disputes, IT, telecoms and competition, trademarks, copyright, media and patents.
Lloyd in turn replaces Shanmuganathan heading the TMC&M practice.
Meanwhile, London partner Shane Gleghorn has replaced Richard Marsh as head of commercial disputes, with the firm stating that the reshuffle was intended to make way for younger partners to take on management responsibilities.
The firm has also appointed a second graduate recruitment partner, with Claire Martin-Royle co-heading the function alongside existing graduate recruitment partner Tim Worden.
Martin-Royle, a restructuring partner who is qualified as both a barrister and a solicitor, joined Taylor Wessing from Jones Day in 2010.
Taylor Wessing's partner promotions in full:
- Mustafa Hussain (Corporate, Private Wealth, Middle East) – London
- Volker Baas (Banking) – Frankfurt
- Sabine Bechtel (Employment & Pensions) – Frankfurt
- Stephan Martin Gerner (Corporate Transactions) – Düsseldorf
- Britta Heymann (Technology, Media & Telecoms) – Hamburg
- Thomas Pattloch (Intellectual Property, China) – Munich
