TLT is to merge with Scottish litigation specialist Anderson Fyfe, with the union and a planned launch in Northern Ireland set to create a firm with predicted revenues of £48m and coverage of all UK legal jurisdictions.
The Scottish tie-up will gift TLT offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh and will add around £3m in revenue as well as eight partners and 45 employees to TLT's existing practice in London and Bristol.
Both firms focus on the financial services sector and share a number of clients. More than 40% of TLT's income comes from financial services clients, while Anderson Fyfe has a particular focus on financial services recoveries work. Around 75% of the Scottish firm's practice is litigation, with the remainder concentrated in real estate.
The merger is due to go live on 1 July, when all of Anderson Fyfe's employees are expected to become part of TLT. Former managing partner Tom McEntegart is set to become operational managing partner for Scotland. No redundancies are expected as a result of the merger.
TLT is also set to open in Northern Ireland with the launch of a new office in Belfast.
The operation, which will sit within a separate limited liability partnership TLT NI, will focus on providing litigation advice to existing financial services clients. Litigation partner Katharine Kimber who joins from Wilson Nesbitt Solicitors will head the operation. She will be supported by four locally recruited lawyers.
TLT managing partner David Pester (pictured) said: "Client need dictated this move to us; both firms are very strong in financial services and litigation, and by adding Northern Ireland we can offer clients joined-up services in all three jurisdictions, something they are increasingly coming to expect.
"Our first aim is to deliver our existing services to a very high level. Over time, we want to increase market share in financial services and litigation, as well as adding some service lines in litigation and taking full advantage of Anderson Fyfe's real estate pedigree."
The newly enlarged firm will have 80 partners, including 25 equity partners, and around 750 employees across its five UK offices.
