Berrymans Lace Mawer has announced its partner promotions with the insurance litigation firm making up nine new partners, including two in the City.

The remaining seven promotions are spread across Berrymans' Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester offices, with Leeds gaining one new partner, Birmingham adding two and Manchester securing the bulk of the new partners with four promotions.

The promotion round spans Berrymans' costs, personal injury, motor, construction, occupational disease and professional indemnity practices and takes the total number of partners at the UK top 50 firm to 150.

The haul is slightly up on the equivalent number last year when Berrymans made up eight new partners.

Berrymans, which sometimes carries out an additional partner promotion round in October on top of the spring haul, also promoted five to its equity rank last year.

The equity promotions included the firm's first non-lawyer partner – a move which also saw Berrymans convert to a legal disciplinary practice.

The 2012 promotions come after Berrymans hired a 33-strong personal injury team for its Southampton office from local firm Lamport Bassitt Solicitors last month.

The team is made up of 25 fee earners and eight support staff, led by partners Nick Rogers and Richard Williams.

Berrymans has eight offices across the UK with bases in Bristol, Cardiff and Liverpool in addition to those listed above.
