Shell to appoint line-up of firms to new global litigation roster
Royal Dutch Shell is set to create a global litigation panel following the hire of Fulbright & Jaworski City disputes partner Richard Hill as associate general counsel for its newly-launched in-house disputes group.

Royal Dutch Shell is set to create a global litigation adviser roster following the hire of Fulbright & Jaworski City disputes partner Richard Hill as associate general counsel for its newly-launched in-house disputes group.
The energy giant has instructed Hogan Lovells on all dispute resolution matters since 2010, when the transatlantic firm won a first-time appointment to handle the work for Shell as part of a global panel review by the company.
Hill will lead the review outside the US, the results of which will be announced in the first quarter of 2013, with up to five law firms likely to be appointed to the roster.
He was hired earlier this month to take up a role overseeing disputes in Europe and the CIS, the Middle East, Africa and across Asia-Pacific when the company launched a new in-house disputes group. He is due to join Shell in London in August.
As part of the same internal overhaul, Shell also appointed Lynda Irvine in Houston to oversee its disputes group in the Americas.
The 2010 review saw fewer than 10 law firms appointed to Shell's global roster of legal advisers, with former corporate adviser Slaughter and May missing out on a formal spot.
Magic circle rivals Clifford Chance and Allen & Overy were appointed to the roster alongside Hogan Lovells as well as firms including Jones Day.
The same year, Shell hired Debevoise & Plimpton litigation partner Peter Rees QC as its legal director. Rees oversees a global legal team of 1,200 and holds a position on the board.
Shell operates in 90 countries with 93,000 employees and revenues of $368bn (£226bn).
