Dewey & LeBoeuf's former Beijing chief Ingrid Zhu-Clark has become the latest partner from the now-defunct US firm to join Morgan Lewis & Bockius's international network.

Zhu-Clark, who will co-manage Morgan Lewis' Beijing base alongside current local chief Lucas Chang, is an energy specialist who advises on public and private oil & gas transactions.

At Dewey, she co-managed the US firm's Asia practice and oversaw its China practice. She joined legacy LeBoeuf Lamb Greene and MacRae as a partner in 2001 from legacy Lovells.

Key work she has been involved in has included CNPC International's $4.2bn (£2.7bn) acquisition of PetroKazakhstan and CNOOC's $2.3bn (£1.5bn) acquisition of a 45% stake in Nigeria's Akpo offshore oil and gas field.

The three other partners in Dewey's former Beijing office – Dirk Walker, Yuan Guang and Lan Tao – are understood to be in talks with a number of US firms.

The hire comes after Morgan Lewis signed up a raft of partners from Dewey's disintegrating international network in the weeks leading up to the US firm's bankruptcy filing this week.

The filing revealed that Morgan Lewis paid Dewey $4m (£2.5m) for its stake in the firm's Russia and Kazakhstan offices, with the Moscow team, which includes six partners, launching a local office for Morgan Lewis.

Meanwhile, Dewey London managing partner Peter Sharp also joined the firm alongside fellow City partners Nick Greenwood, David Waldron, Bruce Johnston, Amanda Jennings and Amy Comer.

Elsewhere, Dewey's Hong Kong arm – which includes corporate partner Heng Loong Cheong, local partner Sheng Wu, and Joyce Chan, the head of Dewey's local associated firm Joyce Sze Ho Chan & Coby – is joining DLA Piper.
