Ashurst has recruited two former Dewey & LeBoeuf partners in Frankfurt, with the pair set to join the UK firm's corporate and employment practices in the German city.

The arrival of Benedikt von Schorlemer, who focuses on private equity and M&A, takes the number of German corporate partners at Ashurst to seven.

He advises domestic and multinational corporates on acquisitions, restructurings and carve-outs and has particular expertise in the chemical, automotive and telecoms sectors. He will be joined by senior associate Jan Frederik Krekeler, who worked in his team at Dewey's Frankfurt base.

Meanwhile, Andreas Mauroschat is joining Ashurst as its new German head of employment. His practice focuses on employment law aspects of M&A, outsourcing and restructurings.

The news comes amid the Dewey's ongoing bankruptcy proceedings in the US and the UK. The majority of the collapsed firm's international network has joined rival firms or spun off to create independent practices.

A large part of Dewey's Frankfurt office left to launch an office for McDermott Will & Emery earlier this year, while Simmons and SJ Berwin have also picked up lawyers from the US firm's Frankfurt base. Simmons hired a three-partner team, while SJ Berwin signed up Dewey structured finance and capital markets partner Walburga Kullmann alongside four other local lawyers.

The latest hires for Ashurst come after the firm recruited Dewey partner Matthias Von Oppen in late 2010.
