Fixed-price legal services business Riverview Law is eyeing expansion in the Far East and offshore centres as part of a drive to attract international businesses to use its services in the UK.

Following the launch of its first global outpost in New York earlier this month, it is now considering further international launches, with Far East financial centres such as Hong Kong, as well as offshore jurisdictions including the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands high on the agenda.

Riverview, which is part-owned by DLA Piper and whose parent company, LawVest, has DLA Piper joint CEO Nigel Knowles as non-executive chairman, launched its new-look fixed-price legal services venture in the UK in February.

As is the case in its New York outpost, the firm is not intending to offer local law advice in its international bases, but will instead target international clients and law firms that require representation in the UK on an entirely fixed-fee basis.

Riverview says its UK operations have had a busy start, with both small and medium-sized businesses and large corporates taking up its services. A particularly popular option has been the firm's annual contract, which puts a fixed fee on all the clients' legal services for a year.

Riverview Law director of operations Jeremy Hopkins (pictured) said: "It is a foregone conclusion that we will expand internationally. Riverview Chambers will be targeting similar jurisdictions to those being targeted by the English Bar generally, but with the added benefit of being able to offer a complete fixed-price litigation service, in conjunction with Riverview Solicitors."
