Baker & McKenzie has announced its 2012 promotions round, with three London lawyers making the cut out of a global total of 63.
The promotions, which bring the total number of partners in the international firm to 1,400, will take effect next month (1 July).
The new London partners are: banking and finance specialist Lynn Rosell Rowley; corporate lawyer Emily Carlisle, who advises on corporate reorganisations and business transformation projects; and Nick O'Donnell, who advises on M&A, joint ventures and equity capital markets transactions.
The largest number of promotions come in the firm's Asian offices, with 28 new partners in offices including Jakarta, Hong Kong, Manila, Bangkok, Beijing, Tokyo, Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur.
In the EMEA region, the firm has promoted 20 lawyers across Frankfurt, Munich, Brussels, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Warsaw, Zurich, Moscow, Rome, Vienna, Barcelona and Paris. In Latin America, meanwhile, six lawyers have been promoted in Bakers' Sao Paulo, Santiago and Porto Alegre bases.
In its domestic US offices, the firm has made nine internal promotions shared across its Chicago headquarters, San Francisco, Houston, New York and Dallas.
The news comes after an expansive year for the firm, which during 2011-12 made 50 lateral hires and opened three new offices in Johannesburg, Istanbul and Doha.
Chairman Eduardo Leite (pictured) commented: "We have responded to client demands for more senior and experienced counsel from their outside law firms. The election of 63 partners reflects our continuing commitment to be a client-driven, performance-based firm."
