Simmons & Simmons has added two partners to its London capital markets team with a double hire from Linklaters.

The firm has recruited partner Alan Davies and managing associate Piers Summerfield from the magic circle firm, with both joining as partners, taking partner count in the capital markets team to 10.

Davies, who has been a partner at Linklaters since 1995 and has spent 27 years at the firm, will join Simmons in July. He is a founding partner of Linklaters' derivatives and structured products practice in the City.

Meanwhile, Summerfield will join Simmons in early autumn from Linklaters' London office. He has spent 12 years at the firm, most recently as a managing associate. He will be advising on debt and equity-linked transactions.

Simmons financial markets head Jonathan Hammond said: "Their recruitment is a further sign of our plans to build on our existing strengths. Alan is a very welcome addition to the team, and we are also pleased that Piers will assist in building our debt capital markets practice."

The firm recently bulked up its City arm in May, with the hires of finance partner Donna Ager, previously a senior associate at Clifford Chance, and finance partner David Williams, previously head of DLA Piper's UK investment funds team.

Simmons also strengthened its new Bristol office – which is due to open this autumn – in the same month with two lateral partner additions from Osborne Clarke.
