Addleshaw Goddard has recruited a Trowers & Hamlins partner to lead the launch of its new Dubai office.

Dubai-based construction partner Andrew Greaves will head up the new base alongside Addleshaws international arbitration partner Jonathan Tattersall and senior corporate partner Keith Johnston, who will now split their time between the firm's London, Dubai and Manchester offices.

Greaves will join the firm's engineering, projects and construction group, which is part of its litigation division. The office is set to open for business on 2 September.

Two associates, recruited from UAE firm Al Tamimi and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, will join Greaves in the new practice.

Addleshaws managing partner Paul Devitt commented: "The projects and arbitration arena in the Middle East has grown considerably over the last five years and we are seeing an increasing number of instructions from the region."

Legal Week reported in April that Addleshaws' planned launch in Dubai was expected to take place during the 2012-13 financial year, with senior partner Monica Burch confirming that the launch would initially focus on international arbitration.

The new venture comes on the back of the launch of the firm's new Singapore office in May. The base is led by London-based international arbitration partner Jamie Harrison.
