Siemens is gearing up for a review of its UK and Ireland law firm roster this autumn following the appointment of new general counsel Claire Carless earlier this year.

The engineering and electronics giant will launch the review two years after it last revised its adviser line-up in 2010, with regional pricing options high on the agenda.

Siemens currently operates a three-stream panel, comprising UK, Scotland and Ireland. The UK panel includes Pinsent Masons, Reed Smith, Manches and Midlands firm Hill Hofstetter, with Addleshaw Goddard and Watson Farley & Williams also added in April this year to advise on finance.

The Scotland panel includes Biggart Baillie and Shepherd & Wedderburn, with Arthur Cox the sole Ireland adviser.

Carless (pictured) said: "I am keen to ensure we have the right mix of firms in terms of skills and experience, and a good mix of London and regional firms for our different offices to ensure we can take advantage of the pricing differential from different offices."

Carless added that she does not expect to completely revamp the panel, but would be "surprised if there are no changes".

The news comes after Carless joined Siemens in March this year from Vodafone, where she had spent 16 years at the helm of the company's legal function.

Other law firms to have worked with Siemens in the past include Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Baker & McKenzie and Clifford Chance.
