CMS Cameron McKenna, Olswang and White & Case are among a number of law firms to have confirmed retention rates for their September intakes, with Olswang also unveiling changes to its trainee recruitment scheme.

Camerons has announced an 84% retention rate, slightly up on the 81% kept on from the firm's March intake. Of 31 newly qualified (NQ) trainees, 26 took up positions at the firm after 29 were offered jobs, after the March intake saw 25 of 31 NQs kept on.

Meanwhile, Olswang has posted a 64% retention rate for its autumn intake. Of 14 NQs, nine accepted an offer at the firm, with one trainee relocating. The percentage is slightly up from last September, when the firm logged a 58% intake.

The firm is also introducing a new element to its training from September 2013, with future trainees set to study the MA in Law with Business alongside their legal training. Olswang's trainees will also now take the Graduate Diploma in Law at BPP from September 2013, where they already take the Legal Practice Course.

Meanwhile, a quartet of US firms have confirmed the details of their autumn City intakes, with White & Case keeping on 81% of its NQs, with 13 out of 16 accepting job offers, down on last September's rate of 94%.

Debevoise & Plimpton, Jones Day and Shearman have all also announced their retention rates, with the former two retaining 100% of their NQs. Debevoise is keeping on six trainees, while Jones Day has offered all of its 11 NQs a position at the firm. Meanwhile, Shearman has reported an 87.5% intake, down on last September's figure of 91.5%.

The news comes after announcements of increased retention rates from Slaughters and May, SNR Denton and Ashurst were made earlier this month.
