Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP), Mishcon de Reya, Burges Salmon and Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe have all confirmed their retention figures for this September's trainee intakes.

BLP is keeping on 80% of its 20 trainees after 16 newly qualified (NQ) lawyers accepted positions at the firm. The percentage is slightly down from last September's figure, when the firm retained 95% (19) of its 20 trainees.

Meanwhile, Burges Salmon has confirmed a 100% retention rate, keeping on all 21 of its trainees – significantly up on last September's 86% rate.

However, other firms have posted lower rates, with recent UK top 50 entrant Mishcons keeping on just 50% of its autumn intake after offering roles to nine of its 18 trainees, all of whom accepted.

US firm Orrick has also announced a 50% retention rate for its latest London NQ intake, after making three offers to six of its trainees, with all accepting.

Last week Clifford Chance, Reynolds Porter Chamberlain and Stephenson Harwood all posted their autumn trainee retention rates, with the magic circle firm confirming it is keeping on 77% of its latest intake.

Other firms to have announced their autumn retention figures in recent weeks include Slaughter and May, Olswang and CMS Cameron McKenna.
