Nabarro has won a lead advisory role on a £1.3bn Olympic legacy development project in Stratford City.

The International Quarter project – a joint venture between property group Lend Lease and rail company London & Continental Railways (LCR) – will see a new commercial district built in space currently occupied by the Olympic Park, including four million sq ft of office space, a new hotel and 350 homes.

Nabarro will advise on the development, construction and pre-letting aspects of the site, with a team led by real estate head Ciaran Carvalho and real estate partners Marc Franks and Nicholas Vergette.

Meanwhile, Herbert Smith – which has a longstanding relationship with LCR – will handle planning aspects of the development.

Carvalho commented: "It is very exciting to work on a project on this scale and complexity. It was an incredibly thorough and competitive tender process and we put a lot of work and thought into it."

Construction is set to begin after the Games have finished, when the site will be handed over by the Olympic Delivery Authority. Outline planning consent has already been secured.

The role for Nabarro comes after the firm was also this year appointed to advise on one of Europe's biggest carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects – the planned Don Valley Power Project in Derbyshire. Nabarro was instructed by 2Co Energy to advise on its plans to build a coal gasification plant.
