Baker & McKenzie, DLA Piper and CMS have all scored roles on information technology company Atos' first-ever global legal panel.

The French IT services provider, which is the worldwide IT partner for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, confirmed the three-firm line-up late last month following a tender process led by Atos senior vice-president and group general counsel Alexandre Menais.

The trio, chosen for their overseas reach, will advise Atos on a number of areas including M&A, commercial law, human resources, public law, intellectual property, technology and transnational operations.

Menais' decision to create the panel comes after he joined the IT company last September from Accenture, where he was director of legal services.

One relationship partner told Legal Week: "Atos was looking to appoint firms that cover many jurisdictions and are able to carry out as many local services as possible in different fields of law.

"By taking on three firms, it is possible for the company to choose its counsel according to time, area and speciality."

Atos has used a range of firms to date including CMS Derks Star Busmann, the Netherlands arm of the CMS network, which advised Atos when it acquired Dutch electronic payment company Quality Equipment in June. Bakers has not previously worked with the company.

Atos, which had revenues of €8.5bn (£6.7bn) in 2011, employs 74,000 people across 48 countries. The company provides consulting services, outsourcing and systems integration as well as cloud computing services.
