Ashurst has sealed the hire of Nabarro real estate dispute resolution head Iain Travers as a partner in London. Travers, who has been with Nabarro for 38 years, has also developed a substantial arbitration practice during his time at the firm and has handled disputes in the sports world as well as the property industry. He is top-ranked for real estate litigation by Chambers and Partners.

Ashurst has sealed the hire of Nabarro real estate dispute resolution head Iain Travers as a partner in London.
Travers, who has been with Nabarro for 38 years, has also developed a substantial arbitration practice during his time at the firm and has handled disputes in the sports world as well as the property industry. He is top-ranked for real estate litigation by Chambers and Partners.
"I had reached the stage in my career where I was looking for a new challenge," Travers said. "I am now looking forward to helping Ashurst build up their real estate disputes practice and working with their existing team, which has an extremely good reputation.
"I could have stayed at Nabarro. It has been a rewarding and exciting place to have been for the entirety of my professional career."
Ashurst's real estate ambitions were questioned last year following a spate of partner departures, including former London real estate head Simon Cookson, non-contentious construction head Marc Hanson and European real estate head David Evans, who quit to join DLA Piper, Berwin Leighton Paisner and Goodwin Procter respectively.
However, the recruitment of Travers underlines Ashurst's plans for growth in the disputes space, with real estate head Richard Vernon describing it as a key area for the practice.
