Clyde & Co, Hogan Lovells and Eversheds are among the latest firms to have confirmed their autumn trainee retention rates, with Clydes reporting a substantial increase to 94%.

Thirty-four of 36 newly-qualified (NQ) trainees accepted roles at the firm, resulting in the high retention rate. Last September, Clydes kept on 77% of its NQ lawyers, with 20 of a 26-strong intake taking jobs at the firm.

Taylor Wessing has also announced an increased retention rate, with 86% of its incoming trainees accepting roles at the firm. Of 22 NQs, 19 have been kept on, marking a rise on last autumn's retention figure of 79%.

Elsewhere, Eversheds has seen its retention rate drop marginally after keeping on 64 of its 76 NQs, equating to 84%. The percentage is slightly down on last September's qualifying intake, when the firm kept on 33 (87%) of its 38 qualifying trainees.

UK top ten peer Hogan Lovells has retained 73% of its September 2012 prospective trainees – a slight drop from the 79% rate the firm reported last autumn. The firm is holding on to 27 out of 37 qualifiers.

The news comes after Addleshaws and Simmons & Simmons confirmed their NQ figures, with the former keeping 84% of trainee solicitors on, while the latter held on to 89% of its autumn NQs.
