Olswang has bulked up its technology practice with two new partner hires in London and Singapore, including the former head of Allen & Overy's (A&O's) technology, media and telecoms practice Ian Ferguson.

Ferguson will join Olswang on 1 October from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman where he has been a partner in the London office since 2009. Prior to joining Pillsbury, Ferguson was at A&O for 25 years.

He will initially join Olswang's London office before relocating to Singapore, where the firm launched an office earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Ross McKean is set to join the UK top 30 outfit from Baker & McKenzie in London in November. He will be joining Olswang in London after 16 years with Bakers.

Olswang chief executive David Stewart said: "Growing our international technology and sourcing practice is key to ensuring that are we are true business partners who continually build our team to reflect client's needs.

"Ian's substantial experience will support our Asian base which is essential to servicing our TMT clients in the region and will become increasingly central to the continuation of our sector focus strategy, and Ross's arrival will give new senior leadership to our European data protection practice."

The news comes after a spate of hires for the firm this year including former Clifford Chance intellectual property partner Jean-Frederic Gaultier who joined Olswang's Paris office in June.

The firm has bucked the trend for the mid-tier in recent times with a 17% rise in revenue for 2011-12 to take it over the £100m mark, while profits per equity partner jumped 22% to reach £530,000.
