White & Case has promoted 28 lawyers to partnership across eight of the firm's offices, including five London-based lawyers.

The promotions, which are effective as of 1 January 2013, have a particular focus on M&A, capital markets and disputes.

The firm's offices in the EMEA region region received the largest share of new partners, with the five London promotions coming alongside two in Riyadh, two in Istanbul, two in Hamburg, three in Paris, three in Moscow and one each in Frankfurt and Prague.

In London, Charles Balmain has made partner in the firm's commercial litigation practice, while David Manson and Laura Prater have both been made up in the financial restructuring and insolvency practice.

Stuart Willey, previously chief counsel to the Financial Services Authority before joining White & Case, has been made partner in the firm's bank regulatory practice, while Michael Watson, who works in the London global finance team, is now set to relocate to Abu Dhabi on his promotion.

In Asia, Jonathan Olier (M&A) and Nandakumar Ponniya (arbitration) have been made up in Singapore, alongside Tokyo-based project finance lawyer Alexander Woody.

In the Americas, a trio of lawyers have been made up in New York, alongside one new partner each for the firm's offices in Mexico City, Miami and Washington DC).

All five of the women promoted to partner in this year's round were made up in the EMEA region.
